Moments in Tokyo
This self-initiated zine documents a spontaneous trip to Tokyo and Kamakura. I chose the zine format to capture personal travel memories through visual storytelling and playful layout design.
Most of the images were taken from video footage I recorded during the trip. Instead of traditional photography, I extracted still frames and combined them with scanned receipts and tickets collected along the way—adding texture and a personal touch to the pages.
To bring visual consistency to the mixed media, I applied a signature color halftone style, using blue tones sampled from a seaside photo as the primary color palette. Receipts were paired with their corresponding locations to create layered, location-based spreads.
The final layout was composed in InDesign, with an emphasis on rhythm, mood, and tactile details. Tokyo took center stage in this edition—maybe Kamakura will have its own next time.
