Reading Sounds
This project is a typographically-led, experimental response to the 12-minute audio description of HOLECODED by Joel Sherwood Spring, a Wiradjuri anti-disciplinary artist. After carefully listening to the audio and reflecting on it through a poetic lens, I wrote a personal interpretation that was both visceral and intuitive.
My reflection naturally divided into two distinct aural experiences: An abandoned building deep in the woods & A cavernous inward journey
To mirror this duality, I designed two A5 zines, each consisting of 12 pages, representing these contrasting spatial sensations. Using typography as the primary expressive tool, I visually translated my internalized soundscape into spatial form—layered, immersive, and deeply tactile.
